In a thrilling NBA playoff matchup, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics made headlines with his impressive scoring streak earlier in the month. Brown had matched a remarkable record set by Larry Bird, scoring at least 30 points in eight consecutive games before the streak came to an end during the Celtics’ recent victory over the Utah Jazz.

On Tuesday, while the Celtics secured the win, Brown finished with 23 points, shooting 9-for-19 from the field. Notably, he also contributed significantly in other areas, dishing out 10 assists, marking just the second time this season he achieved double-digit assists. Throughout December, Brown had been on a scoring bonanza, averaging 32.7 points, alongside 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

This halt in his scoring streak is the first time Brown has not reached at least 30 points since November 30, when he delivered a triple-double against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Brown’s impressive feat of scoring 30-plus points in eight straight games had previously positioned him alongside Celtics legend Larry Bird, who accomplished this between February and March 1985. Brown’s streak spanned from December 2 to December 28, despite missing a couple of games during the month, which does not diminish his achievements.

The season has been particularly stellar for Brown, who is averaging a career-high 29.7 points per game. With Jayson Tatum sidelined for a portion of the season, Brown has stepped up, taking on more of the scoring responsibilities and showcasing his talent. His mid-range shooting has been particularly effective, evident in his performance throughout the season.

Although the scoring streak has concluded, it reflects the exceptional season Brown is having, as he has managed to score over 30 points in 12 of his last 14 outings and 19 out of the 30 games played this season. Brown’s elevated performance showcases his capability and potential, providing hope for Celtics fans looking forward to the rest of the playoffs and the future seasons ahead.
