Jay Cutler’s recent arrest for DUI and gun possession has been brought into the public eye following the release of police bodycam footage from the incident. The footage shows the former NFL quarterback being detained after a minor traffic accident in Franklin, Tennessee, in October 2024, where he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle while under the influence.

During the encounter, law enforcement arrived on the scene and immediately detected the smell of alcohol on Cutler. Initially, he denied consuming any alcohol before admitting he had a “little bit.” When asked to perform a field sobriety test, Cutler refused, prompting officers to place him in handcuffs, though he complied without resistance.

The routine situation quickly escalated from an accident report to an arrest. He was taken to a local hospital for a blood test, which revealed a blood-alcohol content (BAC) of 0.23, nearly three times the legal driving limit of 0.08. Following the arrest, Cutler was booked at the Williamson County Jail and later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

On August 26, Cutler accepted a plea deal. As part of the agreement, he received jail time, a year of supervised probation, was fined $350, and had his Tennessee driver’s license suspended for a year.

This incident serves as a critical reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, highlighting the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel. In the wake of his legal challenges, Cutler’s case underscores the serious consequences that can arise from driving under the influence.
