Jay Cutler Arrested: Shocking Turn of Events After Collision in Tennessee

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested on Thursday following a minor collision in downtown Franklin, Tennessee, as reported by the Franklin Police Department.

Cutler, 41, faces several charges, including driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while impaired, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, and implied consent violations, according to a news release.

Police officers were called to the intersection of Bridge Street and 2nd Avenue North around 5 p.m. after receiving a report of a crash. According to an affidavit from Williamson County, the driver of a GMC stated that a man in a White Ram truck had rear-ended his vehicle and attempted to offer $2,000 to avoid police involvement before trying to leave the scene.

When officers spoke to Cutler, they noted he appeared to be under the influence, showing signs such as a strong smell of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, unsteady behavior, and slurred speech. He also declined to undergo a standardized field sobriety test.

Cutler was taken into custody, and a blood search warrant was executed at a nearby medical facility. During a search of his vehicle, officers allegedly discovered a rifle in the backseat and a loaded handgun in the center console.

He was booked at the Williamson County Jail and later released on a $5,000 bond. As part of his release conditions, he is prohibited from driving any vehicles without an ignition interlock device, which checks breath alcohol content, or while under the influence.

A representative for Cutler has not responded to requests for comments regarding the incident.

Cutler is widely recognized for his 12 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Chicago Bears. He was previously married to reality television star Kristin Cavallari, with whom he shares three children, and they divorced in 2020. Cutler also appeared on the reality show “Very Cavallari,” which debuted in 2018 and focused on Cavallari’s business and family life.
