Jax Taylor has announced a temporary retreat from the Bravo limelight following the second season of “The Valley,” according to an exclusive statement to Us Weekly. At 46, he shared his need to focus on his sobriety, mental health, and co-parenting responsibilities, particularly for the sake of his 4-year-old son, Cruz.

In his statement, Jax emphasized the importance of taking this time for personal growth, stating, “This time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son.” Jax and his ex-wife, Brittany Cartwright, who both gained fame on “Vanderpump Rules,” have faced significant challenges in their relationship, culminating in Brittany filing for divorce in the summer of 2024.

As the couple worked through their split, Jax sought assistance at a rehab facility for mental health struggles. Throughout Season 2 of “The Valley,” which premiered in April, viewers witnessed the complexities of their evolving relationship. Executive producer Alex Baskin stated the aim is to tell stories responsibly and authentically, highlighting both Jax’s and Brittany’s experiences.

Baskin is focused on crafting a narrative that fairly includes all aspects of their lives. He noted the show’s goal is to entertain while being truthful about the darker moments both individuals faced. Previously, Jax revealed he celebrated his 200th day of sobriety from alcohol and cocaine, reflecting on his ongoing battle with addiction.

Looking ahead, it remains uncertain how the cast will evolve for the third season, as Baskin indicated that changes may occur based on individual behaviors and dynamics. The cast of “The Valley” also includes Danny Booko, Nia Sanchez, and Kristen Doute, among others.

“The Valley” airs on Bravo every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET, with past episodes available for streaming on Peacock. Jax’s focus on his well-being and commitment to becoming the best parent for Cruz symbolizes a hopeful journey toward recovery and self-discovery.
