Jared Leto Shares Excitement and Smiles Behind the Scenes of “Tron: Ares”

Amid the anticipation surrounding Disney’s upcoming “Tron” sequel, titled “Tron: Ares,” actor Jared Leto shared insights about the enjoyable experience he had while working on the film. In a recent interview, Leto expressed excitement about collaborating with Jeff Bridges, the original star of the franchise, who reprises his role as computer programmer Kevin Flynn in the 2025 release.

Leto recounted a memorable moment when he found it difficult to maintain composure during filming. He mentioned a specific take where he had to call “cut” because he couldn’t stop smiling, saying, “One of the highlights was working with Jeff Bridges. Oh god, he’s just the best.” He further explained that the crew was concerned when he called for a break, but it turned out it was simply due to his inability to stop grinning.

The engaging chemistry between Leto and Bridges was palpable, as Leto praised Bridges, stating, “He’s everything. You know, it’s a money back guarantee: That motherf–ker gives you everything you ever wanted.”

Earlier this month, “Tron: Ares” made its debut at Disney’s D23 fan event, during which Leto, Bridges, and fellow cast members Greta Lee and Evan Peters presented the first extended trailer to attendees. Leto revealed his character, Ares, as “the master of the Grid” seeking to permanently dominate the world.

When questioned about the film’s plot, Leto clarified that it involves a scenario where “that technology comes out into Earth,” drawing a parallel to themes present in “The Terminator.” He confirmed that the sequel picks up in a way that continues the story from 2010’s “Tron: Legacy,” expressing his excitement about the project.

Leto also reflected on his fortune to star in both “Tron” and “Blade Runner,” films that greatly influenced his childhood, humorously declaring, “I’m living in my simulation over here, for sure.”

In addition to discussing “Tron: Ares,” Leto touched on various topics during his interview, including his historic climb of the Empire State Building and his ongoing world tour with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars.

“Tron: Ares” is slated to be released in theaters on October 10, 2025.
