The Japanese Government is set to bolster healthcare services in Fiji by providing a mobile audiovisual examination vehicle valued at $224,991. This initiative, part of the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project Programme, marks the 424th GGP project in Fiji, reinforcing Japan’s enduring commitment to community support across the nation.

During the signing of the grant contract, Japan’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Fiji, Takada Isami, expressed pride in this contribution, stating, “Today, Japan is proud to provide $224,991 for the procurement of a four-wheel drive Mobile Audiovisual Examination Vehicle.” This specialized vehicle is designed with soundproofing facilities, allowing for accurate hearing tests to be conducted within its confines.

The introduction of this mobile unit aligns with the principle of “bringing healthcare to the doorstep,” particularly for remote and underserved areas. It aims to facilitate access to essential vision and hearing services, benefiting hundreds of children annually in communities that have historically been challenging to reach.

This initiative not only reflects a significant investment in the health and well-being of the Fijian population but also highlights the strong bonds of collaboration between Japan and Fiji in promoting health equity.
