Janet Jackson is set to receive the prestigious Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), recognizing her significant cultural and global influence in the music industry. In addition to the honor, Jackson will treat fans to her first live television performance in seven years from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
The event will take place on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, with Jennifer Lopez as the host. Fans can tune in live starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS, which will also stream the event on Paramount+.
The AMAs, established by Dick Clark in 1974, have a long history of showcasing unforgettable performances and moments that have shaped pop culture over the past 50 years. This year’s ceremony follows the highly-rated “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special,” which was celebrated as one of the most-watched entertainment specials of 2024. The special broke records for streaming, reaching over 13 million and averaging more than 6.1 million viewers.
This year, the AMAs will honor U.S. troops and veterans, featuring heartfelt performances and stories from active-duty service members and veterans. The collaboration with Easy Day Foundation, a nonprofit organization helping veterans transition to civilian life, includes not only performances but also a special award recognizing an artist dedicated to the veteran community.
Produced by Dick Clark Productions, the 2025 American Music Awards promises to deliver an evening filled with tributes, performances, and memorable moments, broadcast globally across various platforms.
This event not only highlights Jackson’s enduring legacy but also sets the stage for a meaningful celebration of those who serve, showcasing the powerful impact of music in uplifting and recognizing our heroes.
