Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis has confirmed her role as Jessica Fletcher in the upcoming movie reboot of “Murder, She Wrote.” During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Curtis, 66, expressed her excitement about the project, saying, “Oh, it’s… happening,” while smiling at the camera. She noted that while she is enthusiastic, she is also tempering her excitement until filming begins. Curtis hinted at other projects keeping her busy, mentioning her involvement in a sequel to the beloved Disney film “Freaky Friday,” set to hit theaters on August 8. Additionally, she will appear in the film “Ella McCay” and the series “Scarpetta.”

The reboot of “Murder, She Wrote” is being developed by Universal, with the screenplay written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, known for their work on “Dumb Money.” Although there is no announcement yet regarding the release date or other cast members, fans of the original series, which aired from 1984 to 1996 and starred the late Angela Lansbury, are eager to see Curtis bring the iconic role to life. Lansbury’s portrayal earned her four Golden Globes, solidifying her legacy as a beloved detective and mystery writer.

This revival marks a significant moment in television history, offering a chance for a new generation to experience the charm and intrigue of Jessica Fletcher’s adventures. With Curtis at the helm, the film promises to blend nostalgia with fresh storytelling, keeping the spirit of the original alive while appealing to modern audiences.
