Jamie Lee Curtis has made a generous contribution of $1 million to assist communities affected by the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Sharing her commitment on Instagram, Curtis emphasized the critical situation, stating that her family has established a fund through their Family Foundation to provide support during this challenging time. She has been in touch with California Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and Senator Adam Schiff to ensure the funds are allocated effectively for maximum impact.

During her appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Curtis described the wildfires as “fucking gnarly” and articulated the profound impact the fires have had on her community. Pacific Palisades, where she resides, is currently facing significant damage, with many neighbors losing their homes. Curtis expressed deep concern for the local businesses, schools, and friends affected by this catastrophic disaster.

The wildfires have decimated around 15,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu since Tuesday, destroying hundreds of structures and prompting mass evacuations. East of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire has consumed over 10,000 acres, severely affecting Altadena and Pasadena, while another blaze, the Hurst Fire, has burned through more than 700 acres in the San Fernando Valley.

In response to the escalating crisis, various events within the entertainment industry, including key film premieres and award ceremonies, have been canceled or postponed. The Critics Choice Awards and AFI Awards Luncheon were among the notable events affected, highlighting the Industry’s solidarity in the face of this disaster. Additionally, the nonprofit Entertainment Industry Foundation has mobilized to collect public donations for the frontline workers and displaced residents impacted by the fires.

This outpouring of support from Curtis and the broader entertainment community showcases the resilience and unity of individuals coming together in difficult times, offering hope to those affected by the wildfires. It serves as a reminder that collective efforts can lead to meaningful change and assistance during crises.
