Jamie Foxx has opened up about the pivotal role his oldest daughter, Corrine Foxx, played in his recovery following a life-threatening medical emergency earlier this year. In April 2023, while filming his new movie Back In Action in Atlanta, Foxx suffered a brain bleed that led to a hemorrhagic stroke, leaving him comatose for several weeks. He later described his recovery as nothing short of a “miracle” during his Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, released in 2024.
Before the media disclosed the severity of his condition, it was Corrine, 31, who took to Instagram to inform the public about her father’s hospitalization. Reflecting on their bond during a recent event hosted by Netflix, Foxx expressed deep gratitude for his daughter’s unwavering support during this harrowing time. He emotionally conveyed to Corrine, “I said one day I’m going to stop crying. But I got a feeling I’ll never stop crying because you were special,” emphasizing the impactful role she played in his recovery journey.
Foxx indicated that Corrine kept him grounded and provided essential emotional support while he was in a critical state for 20 days. Remarkably, he made a recovery in time to walk her down the aisle at her wedding to Joe Hooten last September. He also has another daughter, Anelise Bishop, 16, who provided her father comfort by playing the guitar at his bedside during his hospitalization.
During the same chat, Foxx described his experience meeting the medical staff at Piedmont Hospital, who he credited with helping him regain his health. A nurse shared with him that he was a “miracle” survivor, noting that less than 3% of patients with his condition typically leave the hospital. Foxx remarked on how the nurse dedicated herself to his care upon learning his identity, highlighting the dedication of his medical team.
This account not only showcases the strong familial bonds that helped Foxx through a critical time but also serves as a testament to the capabilities of medical professionals who work tirelessly to provide care. It’s a hopeful reminder of resilience and the power of love and support during life’s most challenging moments.
