James Madison Stars Shine in NFL’s New Season

Former James Madison All-American has secured a position on the New York Giants’ 53-man roster, marking the beginning of the 2024 NFL season. Offensive lineman Stinnie is in his first season with the Giants and his seventh NFL season overall, having previously spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since late 2019, where he celebrated a Super Bowl LV victory on February 7, 2021. Throughout his career, he has played in 31 regular-season games, making 12 starts.

In addition to Stinnie, four other former James Madison players have landed on practice squads as the new season kicks off. Among them are offensive lineman Fornadel with the New England Patriots and defensive linemen Greene with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kromah with the Chicago Bears, and Ukwu with the Detroit Lions.

Greene begins his third season in the NFL, all with the Buccaneers, after signing with the team in May 2022. Last season, he participated in 10 games, starting two, and recorded six tackles. He was also part of Tampa’s practice squad in 2022.

Fornadel is making his NFL debut after being signed as a free agent by the Patriots in June 2024. He previously played two seasons with the DC Defenders in the UFL and XFL, starting all 20 games and earning All-XFL honors in 2023.

Kromah was recognized during the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl and earned distinctions as a 2023 HERO Sports Group of Five First Team All-American as well as First Team All-Sun Belt. In 13 games for the Dukes last season, he accumulated 60 tackles, including 20.5 for loss, and recorded 11.0 sacks, alongside a forced fumble and recovery, ranking high in both FBS tackles for loss and sacks.

Ukwu clocked six seasons with the Dukes before concluding his college career at Ole Miss in 2023. While at JMU, he registered 27.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks, including three forced fumbles. In his final year in 2022, he achieved 10.5 TFL and 7.5 sacks in 11 starts. For Ole Miss, he started five of 13 games last year, amassing 30 tackles, with 4.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks.

Additionally, the 2004 national champion quarterback has entered his sixth season as an NFL coach, now serving as the pass game coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, following previous coaching roles in Minnesota (2022-23) and Denver (2019-21).
