Political commentator James Carville and his wife, Mary Matalin, a former White House staffer, have recently acquired a new condominium in Sarasota, Florida, as evidenced by property records. This prominent couple, known for their divergent political viewpoints—Carville representing the left and Matalin the right—finalized the purchase in early January for $1,915,000. Their new residence is situated within The Condominium on the Bay complex, located along Boulevard of the Arts.

The condo, which spans approximately 2,300 square feet, features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was first listed on December 13 with an asking price of $1.99 million and went under contract just three days later, highlighting the property’s appeal in the competitive real estate market.

Carville is renowned for his distinct Cajun accent and iconic phrases such as, “It’s the economy, stupid,” which became famous during Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign in 1992. Matalin has held influential roles, including serving as the campaign director for President George H.W. Bush and advising several other presidents, including Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Both have made significant contributions to political discourse and have been regular fixtures on major television news networks.

This condo purchase marks not their first foray into Sarasota real estate. The couple previously acquired properties in the area, including a unit in the Renaissance building and another on Golden Gate Point back in 2013. Despite their multiple residences, their primary home is listed in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside the nation’s capital.

Carville and Matalin’s latest investment in Sarasota adds to their notable real estate portfolio, reflecting their ongoing connection to this vibrant Florida community while continuing to play significant roles in American political dialogue.
