Jalen Hurts has been devoted to enhancing the comfort of city schools during the summer, and he is elevating his efforts this season. On Friday, prior to the kickoff in Sao Paulo, the Jalen Hurts Foundation revealed that throughout the upcoming 2024 NFL season, it will donate $5,000 to improve air conditioning at ten additional schools in Philadelphia for every touchdown the Eagles quarterback scores.
The foundation is continuing its Keep It Cool Initiative by launching a season-long campaign called TDs for ACs. During the 2024-25 season, for every touchdown scored by Hurts, the foundation will contribute $5,000 to help upgrade cooling systems in these ten schools. With nearly 100 schools still lacking proper air conditioning and affecting around 50,000 students, support from the community is crucial. Fans are encouraged to support the Keep It Cool Initiative by making one-time or monthly tax-deductible donations.
The goal is to foster a more conducive learning environment and assist students in coping with extreme heat.
Hurts, who signed a five-year, $255 million contract extension last spring, is keen on using his financial success to positively impact the community. In May, he contributed $200,000 to Philadelphia schools for the installation of new air conditioning in ten schools.
The Jalen Hurts Foundation aims to address the needs of the nearly 100 remaining schools without air conditioning. Previously, Hurts had provided $200,000 worth of air conditioners to ten schools in Philadelphia: Clara Barton, Gloria Casarez, Castor Gardens, D. Newlin Fell, Thomas Finletter, Fliter Academic Plus, Benjamin Franklin/Science Leadership Academy, Edward Gideon, Abram Jens, and T. Roosevelt, which had been identified by the district for new air conditioning units.
