Most Valuable Promotions confirmed on Monday night the cancellation of the highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis, originally scheduled for November 14. This decision follows recent allegations of domestic violence against Davis, who is facing a civil lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade County in late October.
The lawsuit adds to a troubling history of allegations surrounding Davis, stemming from a Father’s Day incident where he allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend and mother of his children. Although he was arrested in July, charges were ultimately dropped in August after the alleged victim chose not to press charges. The current lawsuit, however, escalates the situation, alleging battery and kidnapping during their relationship.
In light of these developments, MVP swiftly announced their investigation into the matter and it became apparent that Davis would likely be removed from the event. Speculations regarding potential replacement opponents for Paul have emerged, mentioning figures such as Nate Diaz, a former UFC fighter and previous opponent of Paul, along with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, and renowned boxers Ryan Garcia and Terence Crawford.
Despite this setback, MVP reassured fans that Jake Paul will still be headlining a Netflix card by the end of 2025. Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, expressed their commitment to handling the situation with care and announced that further specifics about the new event date, location, opponent, and additional matches would be disclosed once finalized. Bidarian extended gratitude to Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their continued partnership amidst the changes.
This cancellation, while disappointing, highlights the importance of addressing serious allegations in the sports world. The focus now shifts to ensuring a responsible and well-planned event in the near future.
