Jaguars’ London Struggles: Can They Bounce Back After Bear Blast?

The Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off their two-week football journey in London with a game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday morning at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The game began at 9:30 a.m. Eastern time.

After ending a losing streak last week, the Jaguars (1-4) were looking to build on their momentum, thanks to a standout performance from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who achieved a career-high in passing yards during the victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The team also made history by executing three plays of 60 or more yards—an achievement accomplished only once before in franchise history.

Facing the Bears (3-2), who recently dominated the Carolina Panthers, the Jaguars hoped to secure a second victory. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, a former No. 1 draft pick like Lawrence, also has connections to Jacksonville, having trained in the area.

However, the Jaguars struggled significantly in their matchup against the Bears, suffering a 35-16 defeat. Safety Andre Cisco described the loss as a moment when “there was a lot of quit,” highlighting the team’s lack of confidence and direction.

The game featured several missed opportunities for Jacksonville, with receivers failing to convert potential touchdowns. Ultimately, despite moments of promise, including a touchdown pass from Lawrence to Gabe Davis, the Jaguars could not recover from early mistakes and key turnovers, including an interception thrown by Lawrence.

As the game progressed, the Bears capitalized on Jaguars’ errors. Notably, they extended their lead after recovering a turnover that led to another touchdown. The Jaguars’ defense faltered throughout, unable to contain Chicago’s offense, led by Williams, who threw multiple touchdown passes.

Following this defeat, the Jaguars’ season appears grim at 1-5, complicating their upcoming match against the New England Patriots, also set for London next week. The team’s next steps will be crucial as they look to improve and recover from a disappointing start to the season.
