Jaguars and Patriots Clash: Who Will Break the 1-5 Streak?

Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots enter their upcoming matchup with a record of 1-5, searching for solutions to their struggles. The Jaguars return to Wembley Stadium in London for a second consecutive week, following last week’s 35-16 defeat against the Chicago Bears. Remaining in London after that loss, the Jaguars have identified several areas for improvement, particularly on defense, which currently ranks among the league’s worst. Jacksonville stands 31st in both yards allowed per game (390.0) and points allowed per game (29.7), while also giving up a league-high average of 276.7 passing yards.

On the brighter side for the Jaguars, rookie quarterback Drake Maye will be making his second start for the Patriots. While facing a rookie quarterback can benefit a struggling defense, Maye had an impressive debut last week against the Texans, throwing for 243 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Notably, Jacksonville’s defense also faced a rookie quarterback in Week 6, when Caleb Williams threw four touchdown passes against them.

This game marks the NFL’s final contest in London for the season, with the last international game of 2024 scheduled between the Giants and Panthers in Munich on November 10.
