Legendary guitarist and rock star Jack White delighted fans with two spectacular performances at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom on May 22 and 23. While many fans enjoyed his concerts, a select group of local shop employees had an unforgettable experience meeting the musician during his brief visit to the city.
White made a stop at Rufus Guitar Shop on Commercial Drive, where he was accompanied by members of Big Sugar, the Canadian band that opened for him on the second night. The shop shared a photo of the impromptu visit on social media, capturing the excitement of the surprise appearance.
“Enjoy the Davoli and the Ace Tone Space Echo!” read the enthusiastic post from Rufus Guitar Shop. The shop later confirmed that White made a purchase during his visit, acquiring a guitar from the Davoli brand. Known for their unique craftsmanship, Davoli guitars are cherished by musicians. Additionally, Ace Tone, a Japanese company renowned in the 1960s and 70s for producing a range of musical equipment like effects pedals and drum machines, was also highlighted in the visit.
Though White’s time in Vancouver was brief, with only one more show scheduled in Oregon on May 24, his presence was undoubtedly a memorable moment for both fans and the local music community.
This experience not only highlights the connection between artists and their fans but also celebrates local music shops that serve as vital hubs for musicians and enthusiasts alike.
