Jack White Takes Legal Aim at Trump Over Music Misuse

Detroit musician Jack White has issued a legal warning to former President Donald Trump after his campaign used White’s music in a recent social media post.

Margo Martin, who served as the deputy director of communications for Trump’s campaign, shared a video on social media featuring Trump boarding a plane with The White Stripes’ famous track “Seven Nation Army” playing in the background. However, the video has since been removed.

In response, White took to Instagram to express his discontent, stating, “Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists.” He also announced intentions to pursue legal action against Trump’s campaign, referencing the numerous lawsuits the former president faces. “Lawsuit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your 5 thousand others.) Have a great day at work today Margo Martin,” he wrote.

Additionally, White criticized Trump as “scum” for the campaign’s actions at Arlington National Cemetery, where Trump visited with Gold Star families of service members who died during the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan. An Army spokesperson reported that a female official at the cemetery was “abruptly pushed aside” during a dispute over photography and video recordings.

White commented, “You should lose every military family’s vote immediately from that if ANYTHING makes sense anymore.”

CBS News Detroit has reached out for a response from Trump’s campaign regarding White’s statement.

The Detroit native is scheduled to perform two shows in the Metro Detroit area this weekend, including a small performance at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor on Sunday and a reunion with former Hentchmen bandmates at the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival on Monday.
