Detroit musician Jack White has threatened legal action against former President Donald Trump after his campaign used White’s music in a social media post without permission.
The video’s background featured “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes as Trump was boarding a plane. The initial post was removed shortly after it was shared by Margo Martin, Trump’s former deputy director of communications.
In an Instagram response, White expressed his outrage, stating, “Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists,” and warned that a lawsuit would soon follow. “Law suit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your 5 thousand others.) Have a great day at work today Margo Martin,” he added.
White also criticized Trump following a controversial incident at Arlington National Cemetery during a visit with Gold Star families, criticizing the campaign’s behavior and calling Trump “scum.” He noted an incident in which a female official at the cemetery was treated poorly during an argument regarding photography and videography.
“You should lose every military family’s vote immediately from that if ANYTHING makes sense anymore,” White remarked.
CBS News Detroit has requested a comment from Trump’s campaign regarding White’s statements.
Meanwhile, White is set to perform two shows in Metro Detroit this weekend, including a performance at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor on Sunday and a reunion with former bandmates at the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival on Monday.
