ITV has secured the rights to air “Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy,” a gripping crime drama that delves into the disturbing crimes of one of America’s most notorious serial killers. Often referred to as “the killer clown,” John Wayne Gacy lured young men to their demise while masquerading as a respected community leader during the 1970s. His criminal activities came to light in 1978, following the disappearance of 15-year-old Robert Piest, which led police to uncover a series of buried bodies in Gacy’s home.

The series, which originally premiered on Peacock in the United States last October, consists of eight compelling episodes featuring a talented ensemble cast. Michael Chernus, known for his work in “Severance,” stars as the chilling Gacy, while Gabriel Luna takes on the role of Detective Rafael Tovar, a key figure in Gacy’s capture.

The cast also includes:
– James Badge Dale as Joe Kozenczak, a member of the local police who played a significant role in the investigation.
– Michael Angarano portraying Sam Amirante, the attorney who represented Gacy during his trial.
– Chris Sullivan as Bill Kunkle, the chief prosecutor in the case.
– Marin Ireland as Elizabeth Piest, Robert’s mother.
– Augustus Prew as Jeffrey Rignall, a survivor of Gacy’s earlier attacks.
– Brandon McEwan as Phillip Paske, a criminal associated with Gacy.
– Ryker Baloun as Robert Piest, the young victim, and
– Cricket Brown and Thom Nyhuus portraying Robert’s siblings, Kerry and Kenneth Piest, respectively.

The real-life John Wayne Gacy was linked to at least 33 murders of young men and boys in the Chicago area from 1972 until his arrest in 1978. He was known for his dual life, entertaining children as a clown while hiding his horrific crimes. Gacy was ultimately convicted and executed in 1994.

The premiere of “Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy” on ITV1 and ITVX is set for Friday, January 30th, at 9 PM, promising to captivate audiences with its chilling portrayal of one of history’s most infamous criminals. This series not only sheds light on the horrors of Gacy’s actions but also pays homage to the determination of those who worked tirelessly to bring him to justice.
