The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are intensifying their air campaign against Iranian military assets, targeting ballistic launching sites in Isfahan. IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin confirmed on Tuesday evening that 12 separate sites are currently under assault as part of Israel’s ongoing strategy to disrupt Iranian missile capabilities.
This latest wave of strikes follows the previous targeting of three significant Iranian nuclear facilities, including those located in Isfahan. Reports from Iranian state television, Press TV, indicate that the country’s air defenses are responding to what they describe as a fresh series of Israeli attacks, particularly in densely populated areas of Tehran.
The IDF has circulated a video purportedly showing the destruction of three critical sites used for storing and launching surface-to-surface missiles in Isfahan. However, independent verification of this footage has not been achieved. Defrin noted the implications of these strikes, stating that they have forced Iranian forces to reconfigure operations towards central Iran and led to their withdrawal from western regions.
The IDF claims to have neutralized over 70 Iranian aerial defense missile batteries during its operations, in addition to various missile launchers and detection radar systems meant to thwart Israeli attacks. This ongoing military initiative signifies a decisive approach from Israel, aiming to eliminate any safe havens for Iran and its regional proxies, drawing parallels not just with Hamas but also with senior figures in Hezbollah.
While the situation remains tense, Israel’s actions display a calculated effort to ensure its national security and disrupt potential threats from Iran, signaling ongoing complexities within the regional geopolitical landscape.
