Isabelle Tate, 23, Dies After Battling Rare Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Isabelle Tate, a promising young actress, passed away on Sunday at the age of 23 after battling a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, as confirmed by her talent agency, the McCray Agency, on social media. Tate was known for her recent role in “9-1-1: Nashville,” where she had made a vibrant return to acting.

The McCray Agency expressed their sorrow in an Instagram post, stating, “We are deeply saddened and completely heartbroken to share that Isabelle Tate passed away on October 19th. I’ve known Izzy since she was a teenager and she recently returned to acting. She booked the first series she auditioned for, 9-1-1 Nashville. She had a wonderful time.”

Her family later confirmed the cause of death, revealing that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a progressive neuromuscular condition she had lived with since she was 13. In various statements, they highlighted her determination and resilience, describing her as “full of fire, a fighter, never once making excuses” for her condition.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is a hereditary disorder that affects the peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness and sensory loss. Symptoms generally arise in childhood or early adulthood, causing difficulties in walking, potential loss of sensation in the limbs, and in some cases, complications that could become serious if not managed properly. Although there is no cure, treatments such as physical therapy and use of orthopedic devices can greatly improve quality of life.

Tate’s family is encouraging memorial contributions to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, which focuses on advancing research for better treatments. In an Instagram post from 2022, Tate had shared her experiences with her diagnosis, emphasizing her commitment to living life fully despite her health challenges.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Tate graduated from Middle Tennessee State University before pursuing her acting career. Her legacy will be remembered not only through her work on screen but also through her inspiring attitude towards life and her advocacy for those with similar conditions.
