Is Ted Lasso Set for a Surprising Season 4 Comeback?

A fourth season of “Ted Lasso” might still be on the horizon for fans, as reports indicate that Apple TV+ is considering the continuation of the series. Warner Bros. Television has exercised options on key cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, showing a clear intent to have them return for another season. The show features Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach leading an English soccer team.

While no official announcement about Season 4 has been made, industry reports suggest that Warner Bros. Television is planning to negotiate new deals with the show’s other cast members soon. Sudeikis is expected to continue his involvement as an executive producer, and production for the potential new season could start as early as early 2025.

This news comes as a surprise as many believed that the third season finale in May 2023 would wrap up the story, with Sudeikis’ character departing AFC Richmond for the United States. The show’s creators had previously envisioned it as a three-season journey.

Despite initial statements about concluding the show in three seasons, there was no formal promotion from Apple TV+ indicating that Season 3 would be the end. Throughout the pre-finale discussions, Sudeikis remained non-committal on the show’s future, emphasizing that decisions were not solely up to him.

Recently, co-creator Bill Lawrence remarked that the show’s future largely depends on Sudeikis’s wishes, stating that while fans are eager for more, they respect whatever decision he makes.

“Ted Lasso,” which debuted in 2020, rapidly gained acclaim and became one of Apple TV+’s standout series. It has won multiple Emmys, including two for best comedy series, although the critical response to its third season was less enthusiastic compared to the earlier seasons.
