The Indonesian Embassy in Fiji, in partnership with the Fiji Arts Council, hosted a vibrant cultural reception to promote the upcoming Indonesia-Pacific Cultural Synergy (IPACs) 2025 event, which will take place in Indonesia later this month. This gathering was attended by ministers, artists, and cultural enthusiasts from across the Pacific, underscoring the significance of cultural exchange and collaboration in the region.
Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, Dupito Simamora, expressed his gratitude toward the Fiji Arts Council for their enduring partnership and highlighted the importance of this event in fostering cross-cultural ties. “Our gathering this evening provides a special opportunity to share and celebrate our rich culture, traditions, friendship, and growing collaboration,” he stated.
IPACs is expected to be a significant event, bringing together representatives from 16 countries and territories across the Pacific, in addition to Timor-Leste. Ambassador Simamora emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to being a dialogue partner for the Pacific, focusing on knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and fostering exchanges between the peoples of both regions.
In preparation for IPACs, two workshops on music, curation, and traditional weaving arts are currently taking place, co-organized by the Indonesian Embassy and the Fiji Arts Council. Two exceptional participants from these workshops will earn the opportunity to travel to Jakarta to attend the event, further strengthening cultural and professional ties.
Fiji’s Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, who will lead Fiji’s delegation at the event, emphasized the critical role of cultural diplomacy in building mutual understanding. He noted, “Our partnership with the Republic of Indonesia continues to grow through mutual respect and shared experiences that enrich both our nations.”
The forthcoming Indonesia-Pacific Cultural Synergy 2025 is anticipated to enhance cultural ties, promote collaboration among partner nations, and celebrate shared traditions and values between Indonesia and its Pacific neighbors. Initiatives such as cultural exchanges and cooperative programs not only reflect the strength of bilateral relationships but also foster goodwill and hope for future cooperation in addressing common regional challenges.
As Indonesia and Fiji continue to deepen their collaboration, driven by a shared history marked by significant milestones, the outlook for enhanced partnership remains optimistic. Leaders from both nations are committed to prioritizing initiatives that benefit their communities, paving the way for a resilient and united Pacific community.
