This weekend, the Iowa State Fair will witness the crowning of a new Fair Queen, with seven contestants from the KMCH listening area competing for the esteemed title. The event takes place at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, where around one hundred participants from across Iowa have been showcasing their talents and engaging in various activities.
Among the local contenders is Holly Gudenkauf, who recently earned the title of 2025 Delaware County Fair Queen. She will be proudly representing Delaware County in this state-level competition. Other participants from the area include Brooke Neying from Anamosa, representing the Great Jones County Fair, and Kaydence Zeien for Buchanan County. Alexandria Kent will represent Fayette County, Mindy Keehner is competing for Clayton County, Kylie Donovan for Dubuque County, and Emmalee Kratz for Linn County.
The crowning ceremony is scheduled for Saturday night at 7 PM, where the current Iowa State Fair Queen, Elli Blackford from Clarke County, will pass on her crown. Recent interviews highlighted the excitement surrounding the event, particularly during a visit by Queen Blackford to the Clayton County Fair last week.
This cherished tradition not only celebrates the achievements of young women but also fosters community spirit and pride among the counties represented. With such a diverse group of contestants, the event promises to be a memorable occasion highlighting the state’s vibrant youth.
Positive community engagement and participation in local events like these reflect the encouraging spirit of Iowa residents, making this year’s competition another exciting chapter in the Iowa State Fair history.
