Iowa State Cyclones Crush Arkansas State: Record-Breaking Win Highlights Dominance

Iowa State showcased a dominant performance against Arkansas State, winning decisively with a final score of 52-7 on Saturday. The No. 20 Cyclones improved their season record to 3-0, outgaining the Red Wolves 490 to 182 yards, with six different players finding the end zone.

Cyclones head coach Matt Campbell achieved a milestone with this victory, tying the school’s record for most wins as head coach with 56, a mark previously held by Dan McCarney. Aidan Flora capped off the game with his first career touchdown, rushing down the left side for a score right as the game clock was about to expire.

Despite a strong showing from Iowa State, it took Arkansas State 55 minutes to score their only points of the game. Quarterback Timmy McClain managed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Summers, making it 45-7.

Iowa State’s defense also made significant plays, including a forced fumble recovered near midfield and two interceptions during the game. Freshmen running backs Aidan Flora and Dylan Lee both contributed positively, with Lee scoring on a 1-yard run, marking his first career touchdown.

The Cyclones scored consistently throughout the game, leading 31-0 at halftime and controlling the field with greater total yardage and time of possession. The game featured numerous highlights for Iowa State, including a successful fourth-down conversion, strong carries from Carson Hansen, and solid performances from both the offense and defense.

Next week, Iowa State will begin conference play in the Big 12, facing Houston, while the Hawkeyes are on a bye week before their matchup against Ohio State on October 5.
