Apple is making significant strides in the refinement of iOS 26 as it enters the third beta phase. This latest update introduces subtle changes compared to beta 2, particularly with the aesthetic adjustments to the Liquid Glass design. Apple is also preparing to roll out a public beta in July, expanding its testing framework.
One notable update is the adjustment in transparency across various applications like Apple Music, Podcasts, and the App Store. The navigation bars have been made more opaque to enhance button legibility. With modifications to the background tones and notification appearances, the text is now more readable, particularly in Safari, which is experiencing similar transparency changes.
Despite these enhancements, some users have voiced concerns that Apple may be overdoing the reduction of transparency, which originally contributed to the unique aesthetic of iOS 26.
On the visual front, Apple has introduced new color variations for the default “iOS” wallpapers, including options like Halo, Dusk, Sky, and Shadow, with three blue tone variations and a purple shade. The wallpapers show distinct color differences in Dark Mode, offering a fresh look for users.
In the Control Center, toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop, and Cellular have received a brighter color palette, aligning better with the overall design aesthetic. Meanwhile, iPadOS 26 introduces a feature where shaking the cursor enlarges it, providing assistance in locating it on the display—a functionality reminiscent of macOS.
Furthermore, the Maps app will offer fog advisories and real-time alerts on commute delays, enhancing navigation and planning. Safari’s folders interface has also seen minor design tweaks for better usability.
Bug fixes have also been implemented, notably addressing an issue that could lead iPads connected to external displays to unintentionally enter sleep mode during active video calls.
