Apple has revealed its latest operating system, iOS 26, during the WWDC event in Cupertino, marking the most significant redesign of the iPhone interface since iOS 7. The new interface features the innovative Liquid Glass design, representing a substantial shift in iOS aesthetics over the last decade. Along with the new visual update, Apple has reimagined several built-in applications to align with this fresh aesthetic while adding functionality.
The third beta version, iOS 26 Beta 3, has been released, with the public beta anticipated to be available as soon as next week. While an exact launch date is still under wraps, a complete overview of upcoming features, supported devices, and other essential information has been shared. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, emphasized the importance of this update, stating, “iOS 26 shines with the gorgeous new design and meaningful improvements… making iPhone even more helpful.”
The public beta is expected to be released in early July 2025, with the official launch likely aligning with the introduction of the iPhone 17 series around mid-September.
For users eager to try the beta version, signing in with your Apple ID through the Apple Developer Program is essential, which can be enrolled in for free. After setting up, users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates to select the “iOS 26 Developer Beta.” It is crucial to back up your device beforehand, as beta software may introduce bugs or instability.
Some devices will not be compatible with iOS 26, including the iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR. However, compatible models include iPhone 11 and later, along with the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd Generation) and iPhone 16e.
iOS 26 promises a wealth of new functionalities, particularly through the integration of Apple Intelligence. Users can look forward to intelligent summaries, context-aware visual actions, and enhanced real-time translation features in various applications. The Messages app will see a significant update, offering personalized backgrounds, in-chat polls, unique themes for individual conversations, and improved Apple Cash integration. Notable upgrades to the Phone app include call screening features and the new Hold Assist option, which maintains the call connection until a representative is available.
With iOS 26, Apple continues to push the boundaries of user experience, aiming to provide a more intuitive and personalized interface that will enhance the capabilities of iPhone users. This update not only showcases Apple’s commitment to innovation but also ensures that its technology remains relevant and user-friendly in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
