Apple has announced that iOS 18 will be released on September 16th, just days away. This update will introduce several new features allowing users to further customize their iPhone’s homescreen and lockscreen.
Among the enhancements in iOS 18 are the ability to rearrange apps and widgets freely and modify their appearance. Apple is also launching a redesigned Control Center, a new password management application, and support for satellite messaging. Other notable updates will feature new text effects in messaging, an overhauled Photos app, and improved inbox organization in the Mail app.
However, iOS 18 will not include the Apple Intelligence features that are set to debut with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 lineup. These upcoming features will assist users in rewriting and summarizing text, as well as generating images with the AI-driven Image Playground. A more conversational version of Siri will also arrive, with these capabilities expected to hit the iOS 18.1 public beta in October.
Additionally, Apple confirmed that macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 will also launch on September 16th. macOS Sequoia will feature iPhone mirroring, watchOS 11 will introduce new training functionalities, and visionOS 2 will offer an ultrawide virtual Mac display. There is still no information available regarding tvOS 18.
