Inside Jennifer Garner’s Serene Home: A Blend of Vintage Charm and Family Comfort

The interior design of Jennifer Garner’s home centers on a serene neutral palette, highlighting natural textures. Designer Brooke noted that Garner has a fondness for vintage elements, showcasing a French farmhouse table from the 1850s in the dining area, along with midcentury decor from Swedish and Danish creators. “There’s a whimsical aspect to her style, characterized by gentle shapes and curves, mirroring her personality,” Brooke added.

The kitchen stands out as an inviting area, featuring honed marble and soapstone countertops, rounded mohair chairs for the breakfast table, and a fireplace that opens directly to the swimming pool. “Garner favors a cozy and soft ambiance; she isn’t inclined towards bold colors,” Steve, another designer involved, explained. “What she enjoys embodies a natural tranquility.”

Garner sought to create spaces that foster family memories. “She envisioned how her family would utilize each room,” Brooke said, which resulted in unique features like a cozy blue study and an upstairs reading nook, enhanced by a pair of stained-glass windows created by artist Reed Bradley. These windows draw inspiration from his mother Marla Frazee’s illustrations in the beloved children’s book, “All the World,” and depict owls that symbolize Garner’s children and their dog, Birdie.

In collaboration with landscape designer Christine London, the outdoor spaces are crafted for frequent use. The kitchen garden offers fresh produce, while the pool and firepit area serve as perfect spots for casual gatherings. Garner reflects on her West Virginia upbringing, recalling her mother’s advice about the joy of picking fruit straight from the vine, stating, “It’s like you can taste the sunshine.”

As Garner actively lives in her home, both designers recognize its evolving nature. “Homes are never truly finished,” Brooke commented. “This reflects a moment in their lives, and as the children grow, they’ll change the space.” Garner expressed contentment about how her family utilizes the home, stating, “I love that the kids feel comfortable throughout the house, whether they’re in the living room or doing homework in the dining room. That’s the dream, isn’t it?”

The October issue of Architectural Digest features Jennifer Garner’s residence, showcasing insights into the designers’ methods for the project.
