Inside Dave Roberts’ World: Dodgers Manager, Family Man, and a Life of Giving

Dave Roberts, the esteemed manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, stands out not only for his accomplishments in Major League Baseball but also for his commitment to family and community. As a dedicated husband and father, Roberts and his high school sweetheart, Tricia, have cultivated a life centered on love, faith, and giving back, creating a family dynamic that reflects his collaborative approach to baseball.

Having met Tricia Lynn Schempp while they were both students at Vista High School in San Diego, the couple has been inseparable since the early 1990s. They tied the knot in 1997 and have supported each other through every stage of life, from Roberts’ playing career to his current managerial role. Highlighting Tricia’s importance in his life, Roberts remarked, “She’s my biggest supporter, but she’s also honest with me… When I need perspective, she’s the first person I turn to.” Their enduring partnership demonstrates the harmony and teamwork that Roberts values both at home and on the field.

Tricia has established her own successful career, running Tricia Roberts Design, an interior design business that has garnered acclaim across the country for its warm, inviting style. Additionally, as a certified wine specialist, she and Dave co-own Red Stitch Wine, a boutique wine label that reflects their shared interests in wine, travel, and hospitality. Roberts praises her creativity and determination, stating, “Whether it’s her design work or our wine business, she gives it everything she has.”

The couple shares two children, Cole and Emmerson, both of whom are pursuing their own passions. Cole is following his father’s path in baseball, currently playing at Loyola Marymount University and recently signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent. Emmerson, on the other hand, has chosen a distinct artistic path, showcasing her talents in acting and singing, reminiscent of her father’s drive.

While the demands of managing a Major League team are significant, Roberts prioritizes family time. He emphasizes the importance of being present with his loved ones, making it a point to disconnect from baseball activities during evenings. “When I’m home, I try to be present,” he noted, underscoring that his identity extends beyond the sport, as he cherishes his roles as a husband and father.

The Roberts family is also actively engaged in philanthropic efforts throughout Los Angeles. They have been involved with various causes, including supporting cancer patients at the UCLA Santa Monica Oncology Center and participating in local charity events. “Baseball has given us a lot,” Roberts stated. “It’s important that we give back wherever we can — not just as a family, but as people.”

Through their commitment to family, community, and shared passions, the Roberts family exemplifies a holistic approach to life, blending personal and professional endeavors in a meaningful way.
