Injury Woes Hit Hornets: Ball Out, Sexton Questionable for Friday

LaMelo Ball, the talented point guard for the Charlotte Hornets, has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Miami Heat due to a right ankle impingement. Initially marked as questionable, the former Rookie of the Year was downgraded to doubtful before being declared out, marking his third consecutive missed game after dealing with persistent ankle injuries over the years.

Head coach Charles Lee provided an update on Ball’s condition, stating, “Yeah, he’s got that ankle impingement and it’s been good to see he’s been able to get a little bit of work on the court. I think every day he feels a little bit better. He’s joined some team activities, which is great.” Lee emphasized the team’s commitment to a gradual recovery for Ball, adding, “So, the goal is to have him available for as many games as possible this year.”

In addition to Ball’s absence, the Hornets also faced the challenge of missing veteran guard Collin Sexton, who is sidelined due to a neck strain sustained during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite participating in Friday’s shootaround, Sexton did not feel prepared to play. Lee remains hopeful about Sexton’s quick return to the lineup.

The injury updates not only highlight the ongoing struggles for the Hornets but reflect the league’s challenges as teams navigate player health during the season. As both Ball and Sexton work towards recovery, fans hold out hope for their swift return to bolster the Hornets’ performance.
