Mike Evans exited Monday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a hamstring injury and did not return. The wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was seen clutching his right thigh after an incomplete pass during a second-quarter drive. After lying on the field for a brief period, he managed to get up and walked to the locker room.
The Buccaneers quickly announced that Evans would be sidelined due to the injury. The incident occurred during a deep pass attempt from quarterback Baker Mayfield, in which Evans managed to touch the ball but dropped it following a hit from cornerback Brandon Stephens.
Evans appeared to re-aggravate a hamstring issue he had been dealing with leading up to the game. Although he did not require assistance off the field, he went straight to the locker room without being evaluated on the sidelines.
Complicating matters, fellow star receiver Chris Godwin also suffered an injury in the final minute of the game, leading to him being carted off the field.
Evans came into the game already limited due to hamstring problems, having missed two days of practice in the previous week before returning to a limited session on Saturday. Despite this, he was cleared to play and caught a touchdown in the first quarter before his injury sidelined him.
This injury poses a significant challenge for the 4-2 Buccaneers, who have shown strong offensive performance in the early part of the season. If Evans is forced to sit out for an extended period, the team will need to make adjustments without their primary receiving threat.
