ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues are facing a crucial matchup against the Florida Panthers on Thursday night, with game-time decisions for Jake Neighbours, Jordan Kyrou, and Oskar Sundqvist. The Blues, currently positioned at 19-25-9, will host the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, who hold a record of 28-21-3, at 7 p.m.

Both Neighbours and Kyrou sustained injuries during a recent 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars, with Neighbours suffering a lower-body injury while blocking a shot, and Kyrou dealing with an upper-body injury after a collision. Coach Jim Montgomery indicated that their injuries are more day-to-day than week-to-week, providing some optimism for their potential return. Meanwhile, Sundqvist hasn’t played since January 18 due to a deep laceration above his ankle sustained in a game against the Edmonton Oilers.

To bolster their roster, the Blues recalled forwards Matt Luff and Hugh McGing from their AHL affiliate in Springfield as a precaution. Both players participated in the optional morning skate ahead of the game. Additionally, the team placed Dylan Holloway on injured reserve due to a high ankle sprain, joining teammates Robert Thomas (lower body) and Pius Suter (high ankle sprain) on the list of unavailable players.

Montgomery provided little clarity on the lineup, stating, “If you guys want to come see me again at 5:45, you’re more than welcome to.” His remarks reflected the uncertainty surrounding the players’ conditions.

The Blues and Panthers have previously faced off this season, with St. Louis securing a 6-2 victory in Florida, marking their last road win on December 20. Montgomery praised the team’s puck pressure and organizational play in that win, emphasizing the importance of managing the puck well against a strong offensive team like the Panthers, known for their sustained pressure in the offensive zone.

Projected lineups for the match include significant contributions from both teams. The Blues will feature Jonatan Berggren, Brayden Schenn, and Jimmy Snuggerud, while the Panthers spotlight Carter Verhaeghe, Evan Rodrigues, and Sam Reinhart in their lineup.

In the net, Joel Hofer is expected to start for the Blues, with Jordan Binnington as the backup. The Panthers will have Daniil Tarasov tending goal, supported by Sergei Bobrovsky from the bench.

With both teams seeking critical points in the standings, fans can anticipate an exciting contest as the Blues look to reignite their season against a formidable opponent.
