Marquise “Hollywood” Brown exited the game after sustaining an injury on the first play during the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Coach Andy Reid confirmed that Brown dislocated his sternoclavicular shoulder joint and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
According to reports, Brown was discharged from a hospital in Jacksonville on Sunday morning and has been cleared to return to Kansas City. On the game’s opening play, he caught an 11-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes but was tackled, landing awkwardly on his left shoulder.
After the incident, Brown was immediately assessed by medical staff on the sidelines before heading to the locker room for more comprehensive evaluation.
Reid noted that this type of injury resembled one that was previously sustained by Tyreek Hill in 2019, which led to Hill missing four games. “He’ll miss some time,” Reid commented on Brown’s situation.
Brown was one of the notable free-agent signings for the Chiefs during the off-season, and the team hopes he, along with first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy, can enhance their receiving corps, which underperformed last season. In the previous season with the Arizona Cardinals, Brown recorded 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns.
