Indonesia is actively collaborating with Pacific Island nations to advance the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Peace and Security Strategy, according to Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, Dupito Simamora. This strategic initiative, spearheaded by Indonesia, is currently focused on implementing actionable measures to reinforce regional stability and cooperation.
In a show of commitment, Indonesia will host the next assembly of police commissioners and ministers from MSG member states in Jakarta, where discussions will center around the execution of specific strategies outlined in the MSG Peace and Security framework. This initiative points to a concerted effort to bolster security ties among the MSG countries, which include Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu, as well as the Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front from New Caledonia.
