Four Indian startups have been recognized in the prestigious longlist for the Aurora Tech Award, an initiative aimed at celebrating female entrepreneurship in technology. Aica Health, Dzylo, MAMMA-MIYA, and Tech4Good Community are among the 120 top global founders selected in this year’s competition, which received an impressive 2,018 applications from 116 countries, marking a substantial increase from last year.
The Aurora Tech Award is a non-profit initiative launched by inDrive, a global platform for mobility and urban services. It aims to highlight the inspiring achievements of female founders in emerging markets. The finalists for the award will be unveiled in February 2025, with winners to be honored at a global ceremony later in the year.
Aica Health, founded by Manishaa Soin, utilizes AI to assist in managing chronic illnesses and offering coordinated elderly care at home. Dzylo, co-founded by Anita Tailor, is an innovative SaaS platform designed to empower interior designers. MAMMA-MIYA serves as an AI-driven co-pilot to support mothers in balancing productivity with well-being. Lastly, Tech4Good Community is recognized for its Flake project, which enhances the tech capabilities of NGOs via an open-source data management platform.
The proliferation of applications reflects a growing global interest in supporting women-led enterprises. This year’s award also welcomed a wider array of venture capital partners, increasing from 23 to 35, including new contributors from Egypt, Brazil, and Pakistan.
The Aurora Tech Awards aim not only to honor the brightest minds among female entrepreneurs but also to provide these founders with access to essential resources and networks. From mentoring to investor connections, the award offers crucial support that can help elevate women-led startups.
Moreover, trends show a significant rise in women’s involvement in entrepreneurship, particularly in emerging markets, where 17% of working-age women are entrepreneurs. This contrasts with much lower rates in high-income countries, signaling a promising shift toward greater inclusion and innovation.
Overall, the Aurora Tech Award serves as a beacon for aspiring female founders, illustrating that with support and recognition, they have the potential to transform industries and inspire future generations. This initiative not only uplifts women in technology but also contributes positively to local economies and communities worldwide.
As the award progresses, it promises to open doors and create impactful opportunities for women entrepreneurs, fostering an environment of growth and success in diverse fields.
