India’s Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Bambhaniya, has underscored the importance of enhancing relations between India and Fiji after productive discussions with Fijian agricultural leaders in New Delhi. During these meetings, she expressed her joy at engaging with Fiji’s Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Tomasi Tunabuna, and the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh. The talks primarily focused on enhancing collaboration in agriculture and addressing food security challenges.
Critical areas of discussion included the modernization of sugar mills, capacity building, agricultural development, and the establishment of advanced storage facilities, all essential for improving food security. Bambhaniya emphasized that these interactions reflect the deep cultural and economic ties between India and Fiji.

In addition, Bambhaniya took part in Indusfood 2026, a major international food and beverage exhibition that stands as Asia’s leading trade platform. She highlighted the opportunities for dialogue and networking among governments, businesses, and investors that the exhibition provided.
“Indusfood serves as an important international platform for business engagement, policy dialogue, and the development of long-term partnerships in food and agriculture,” Bambhaniya stated.
