Local communities are eagerly preparing for their Independence Day festivities, featuring a range of activities including fireworks, parades, live music, and food.
On Wednesday, July 3, the celebrations kick off in Clintonville with a lively gathering at W.A. Olen Park featuring live music, food, drinks, and a baseball game, culminating in a fireworks display at dusk. Nearby, Iola will host fireworks at Taylor Field at Olson Park, along with an annual “Battle for the Ax” event featuring a competition between the Iola and Scandinavia Fire Departments, with festivities beginning after a 5 p.m. Legion baseball game.
Weyauwega’s celebration will occur at the Waupaca County Fairgrounds, starting with music and concessions in the evening. A patriotic parade, featuring vehicles adorned in red, white, and blue, will take place at 9:15 p.m. inside the oval track, leading to fireworks that will light up the sky at dusk. Other local communities such as Shawano, Kaukauna, Appleton, and Kimberly will also showcase fireworks at dusk.
The celebrations will continue on Thursday, July 4, with notable events in New London, where Festival Foods Fireworks at Hatten Stadium will include free admission, kids’ games, a DJ, and concessions, leading to fireworks at around 9:45 p.m. In Manawa, the 4th of July Celebration is part of the Mid-Western Rodeo, but there will be no fireworks due to concerns for the animals. Waupaca will feature a parade at 10 a.m. on Main Street, followed by a lunch at South Park, a water ski show, and fireworks over Shadow Lake at 9:30 p.m.
Other towns, including Bonduel, Gillett, Mountain, Suring, and Townsend, will also commemorate Independence Day with fireworks displays at dusk over various community parks.
These celebrations not only bring communities together to honor the nation’s independence but also create a festive atmosphere for families and neighbors to enjoy shared moments of joy and patriotism.
