Country music sensation Carrie Underwood is set to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, marking a significant highlight of the event. This announcement from the inaugural committee suggests that Trump’s second inauguration may feature an array of prominent musical acts, potentially outshining the first one held in 2017.
Underwood, who gained fame as the winner of “American Idol” in 2005, will sing “America the Beautiful” just prior to Trump taking the oath of office on January 20. Accompanying her will be the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club, enhancing the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
In addition to Underwood’s performance, opera singer Christopher Macchio will have the honor of singing the national anthem. This seems to set a tone for a festive and grand ceremony filled with notable performances reminiscent of the previous inauguration when artists such as Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down took the stage.
Kicking off the inaugural celebrations, Trump will host an event at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia, on Saturday. Following that, he will pay a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and engage in a rally at the Capital One Arena in Washington, during which he will connect with his supporters. Additionally, a candlelight dinner is planned for that evening.
Inauguration Day itself will feature various traditional elements, including a church service and a tea at the White House with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The schedule also includes a celebratory parade along Pennsylvania Avenue and three inaugural balls.
Moreover, the Village People, known for their hit “Y.M.C.A.,” have also confirmed their participation in the inaugural festivities, promising a lively contribution to the celebrations.
Overall, the upcoming inauguration looks poised to celebrate the occasion with a blend of musical talent and traditional events, creating a hopeful atmosphere for attendees and viewers alike.
