Country music icon Carrie Underwood is set to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, marking a potential highlight for this year’s festivities. Confirmed by an inaugural committee spokesperson, Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” with the accompaniment of the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club, scheduled for January 20.
This year’s inauguration appears to be attracting more prominent names compared to Trump’s first inauguration in 2017. Notably, opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform the national anthem at the event. In comparison, the previous inauguration featured artists such as Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Jackie Evancho, who sang the national anthem.
Trump’s inaugural festivities will begin with a concert on Saturday at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia, followed by a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and a rally at Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. Inauguration Day will include a church service, a traditional tea at the White House with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, and culminate in a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, along with three inaugural balls.
Additionally, the Village People have confirmed their participation in inaugural activities, including performances at events associated with the President-elect, continuing the musical tradition that surrounds inaugural celebrations.
This inauguration promises to blend celebration with tradition, showcasing a variety of artists and events that reflect the spirit of the occasion. As the nation turns towards this momentous event, it will be interesting to see how it connects with the public and the diverse musical landscape it presents.
