A truck driver who illegally dumped waste near the Waiyavi Waterfall has been successfully identified through a thorough investigation led by the Lautoka City Council’s Litter Prevention Officers. The owner of the truck has acknowledged responsibility for the incident and has pledged to restore the impacted area.
Following the offense, the driver was issued a spot fine under the Litter Promulgation Act 2010, which has already been settled. Salend Singh, the Head of Service, highlighted the Council’s firm commitment to environmental protection, expressing their dedication to collaborating with various stakeholders to preserve the city’s natural sites.
“The Lautoka City Council is deeply committed to safeguarding our environment and ensuring that popular natural attractions like Waiyavi Waterfall remain pristine for community enjoyment,” Singh stated.
