IHG Fiji Hotels, owned by FNPF, successfully raised $15,000 for Lifeline Fiji through their month-long Movember initiative, aimed at promoting suicide prevention and enhancing men’s mental health services throughout the nation.
Employees from the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva took part in various activities to raise funds, including growing moustaches, hosting engaging challenges, and offering themed cocktails, spa treatments, dessert sales, and the unique “Cup of Kindness” coffee initiative. This creative approach not only involved staff but also actively engaged guests, fostering a sense of community around the important cause.
The partnership between IHG and Lifeline Fiji played a crucial role in ensuring both staff and guests had access to vital mental health information and support, emphasizing the essential nature of seeking help early. Lachlan Walker, the Regional General Manager for IHG Fiji and the Pacific, highlighted that this campaign exemplifies the organization’s dedication to employee wellbeing and the promotion of open discussions about mental health issues.
Jeremaia Merekula, Director of Lifeline Fiji, expressed gratitude for the funds raised, noting that they will directly contribute to vital services such as crisis helplines, counseling, and community outreach programs. This support will significantly aid individuals in distress, helping them gain access to timely and necessary assistance.
Through their innovative fundraising efforts and dedication to mental health advocacy, IHG Fiji Hotels have not only contributed financially but also helped foster a culture of support and awareness in the community. The success of this campaign serves as a hopeful reminder of the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have on public health initiatives.
