Ice-T hints at a jaw-dropping moment in Law & Order: SVU Season 27
Ice-T, who has played Sgt. Odafin “Fin” Tutuola for 25 years, teases a dramatic “what the f—k” moment for the premiere of Law & Order: SVU Season 27. The rapper-actor, now 67, describes arriving in the first episode only to be beaten and hospitalized, leaving him wondering what’s really going on as the season unfolds.
He notes SVU’s ensemble nature means characters move around from episode to episode. Ice-T added that he’ll continue on the show “as long as I don’t get shot in the head,” joking that staying in the Dick Wolf universe could include crossovers to other series, like Chicago Fire, if his time on SVU ever ends.
SVU’s Season 27 also brings back several core players: Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson, Peter Scanavino as ADA Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr., Kevin Kane as Terry Bruno, and Kelli Giddish returning as Amanda Rollins. Juliana Martinez won’t return as Kate Silva, and Octavio Pisano will come back briefly to wrap up his Detective Joe Velasco storyline before exiting.
Season 27 kicks off on NBC with a premiere on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, with new episodes streaming on Peacock the following day.
What to expect beyond the premiere is a season that leverages the long-running series’ mix of personal arcs and procedural twists, anchored by a familiar cast that continues to evolve within the broader Dick Wolf universe. Fans can look forward to high-stakes cases, the returning dynamic between Benson and Carisi, and the ongoing question of Fin’s next chapter in this enduring NBC staple.
