The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has issued warnings about road conditions as icy weather impacts travel across Montgomery County, TX. Following a night of rain, several bridges have begun to freeze, leading to hazardous road conditions. Areas of concern include the intersections at Woodlands Parkway and I-45, Hwy 242 and I-45, as well as the 1488/149 bridge.

Montgomery County Judge Keough reported on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, that the Woodlands Parkway overpass at I-45 has been closed due to significant icing conditions. With temperatures expected to remain below freezing for several days and dangerous wind chills predicted through Tuesday, officials are advising residents to avoid travel whenever possible. In a statement, Judge Keough emphasized the urgency for everyone to stay off the roads to ensure safety.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler provided further updates, stating that crews are actively treating bridges and overpasses to manage hazards, although closures may be necessary as icing conditions develop. Despite some roads being drivable as of 9:30 a.m., an accident on the northbound I-45 flyover at Woodlands Parkway has compelled authorities to close that flyover and direct law enforcement to the scene.

Wheeler cautioned that with falling temperatures particularly on Monday, road conditions are likely to worsen, especially on elevated roadways. He urged the public to utilize extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

Public safety remains a top priority as Montgomery County officials navigate the challenges posed by this winter storm, reminding citizens to keep warm and stay informed regarding local road conditions.
