Set in a procedurally generated fantasy world, Hytale promised RPG-style combat, dungeons, and block-based construction similar to Minecraft. The game had been slated for publication by Riot Games, which bought Hypixel Studios in April 2020. The cancellation announcement included a note of gratitude towards Riot for their support during this difficult transition, ensuring that the staff would receive severance and assistance in seeking new opportunities.
