Hürzeler Aims for Wembley as Brighton Take on Barnsley in Carabao Cup

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler is eyeing Wembley glory as he seeks to lead his team to their first major trophy, aiming to replicate the success of their rivals Crystal Palace. The Seagulls are gearing up for their Carabao Cup third-round clash against League One side Barnsley, set for Tuesday evening, September 23rd.

Last season, Crystal Palace achieved a remarkable feat by winning the FA Cup, defeating Manchester City 1-0 in May. Hürzeler is determined to deliver similar success for Brighton fans, emphasizing the importance of giving everything for a cup victory. “It’s what the fans are dreaming of, and therefore we need to give everything for our fans,” he stated. “There is always a chance to win a cup, and while some luck may be needed, so are strategic match-ups.”

Brighton has shown a promising form, currently holding five points from their last five Premier League matches, including a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. The team previously showcased their strength with a resounding 6-0 victory over Championship side Oxford United in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Barnsley, currently placed sixth in League One following a narrow 1-0 defeat at Blackpool, poses their own challenges for Brighton. Hürzeler acknowledged the competitive nature of the upcoming match, describing it as a “do-or-die game” where preparation and serious focus are key. He stressed the importance of delivering a top-level performance against a team that has had a strong season.

The match will be held at Oakwell, Barnsley’s home ground, with a scheduled kickoff at 7:45 PM. As Brighton aims to advance further in the tournament, fans are hopeful for a historic cup run.
