Hugh Jackman recently shared a memorable evening with music legend Neil Diamond as he prepares for the release of his new film, “Song Sung Blue.” In this upcoming movie, set to be released on December 25, the 57-year-old actor plays the role of Mike Sardina, who is part of a Neil Diamond tribute band known as Lightning & Thunder.

Ahead of the film’s debut, Jackman had the unique opportunity to spend time with the 84-year-old Diamond, culminating in a fun karaoke session that Jackman described as unforgettable. Speaking to People magazine at the film’s premiere in New York City on December 11, he recounted the experience with a humorous note, emphasizing the importance of saying yes when a music icon like Diamond invites you to sing karaoke. “So when you go to Neil’s place for dinner, and he says, ‘Do you wanna do karaoke?’ 100% you say yes,” Jackman joked.

Jackman shared a snapshot from this special night on his Instagram in October, showcasing both him and Diamond with microphones in hand. He expressed his excitement with the caption, “What a day!! So special to spend time, to share, laugh and to sing karaoke!”

The fun didn’t stop there. After filming wrapped, Jackman and his co-star Kate Hudson continued to celebrate Diamond’s music by surprising fans at a New York City pub, where they performed several of Diamond’s classics, including “Forever in Blue Jeans,” “Crunchy Granola Suite,” and the iconic “Sweet Caroline.” At one point, Jackman joined the audience on the bar to energize the crowd.

During the premiere, the two stars playfully entertained the idea of taking their musical partnership on tour. “We’re signed,” Jackman quipped, to which Hudson responded she would only agree under some form of “coercion.”

With the film’s release just around the corner, fans can look forward to not only hearing Jackman and Hudson’s homage to Diamond but also enjoying more of the beloved artist’s timeless music through their performances. “Song Sung Blue” promises to be a heartfelt tribute, blending cinematic storytelling with the spirit of Diamond’s songs.
