Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are officially concluding their nearly 30-year marriage, with Furness filing for an uncontested divorce in New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court on May 23. This legal step follows the couple’s announcement of their separation in September 2023.
The actors, who first connected while co-starring in the 1995 Australian television series “Correlli,” married in 1996 and have two adult children, Oscar and Ava. Their separation was characterized by a heartfelt statement to People, in which they expressed gratitude for nearly three decades together, acknowledging a shared journey and emphasizing their continued commitment to their family.
In their statement, they reflected, “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.” They requested privacy as they transition into this new phase of their lives.
Hugh Jackman, 56, most recently appeared alongside Ryan Reynolds in the highly anticipated film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” released in 2024. Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, was last seen in the 2024 sequel “Force of Nature,” directed by Robert Connolly.
Their love story began on the set of “Correlli,” where Jackman admitted to having a crush on Furness shortly after they met. He recounted feelings of jealousy and a sense of forbidding about dating his co-star. Fortunately, he later discovered that the affection was mutual, leading to a lasting bond.
Though the end of their marriage marks a significant change in their lives, both Jackman and Furness seem to be approaching this transition with a focus on personal growth and mutual respect while prioritizing their children’s well-being.
In navigating this new chapter, there remains a hopeful outlook for both individuals as they reflect on their journey together while continuing to support their family.
