Huawei has officially launched the Mate 70 Air in China, marking its entry into the competitive market of slim and lightweight premium smartphones. This new phone is designed with a focus on portability without compromising on features, aligning with the recent trend of ultra-thin devices.
The Mate 70 Air boasts an impressive 7-inch AMOLED display, capable of a refresh rate of 120Hz, and offers a vibrant resolution of 2760 × 1320 pixels, all within a remarkably thin body measuring just 6.6mm. Despite its sleek design, the device is powered by a robust 6,500mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging, ensuring long-lasting performance for users. Weighing in at 208g, it also provides solid protection with IP68/IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Under the hood, the Mate 70 Air features two processing options depending on the chosen RAM. The model with 12GB RAM is equipped with the Kirin 9020A SoC, while the more powerful 16GB RAM version is driven by the Kirin 9020B chipset.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the rear camera setup, which includes a primary 50MP wide camera with a fast f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom and OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 1.5MP color sensor for enhanced image quality. For selfies and video calls, there is a front-facing 10.7MP camera.
The device operates on HarmonyOS 5.1 and is packed with a variety of AI features. Additional specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2 with Low Energy, high-resolution audio output, Beidou satellite communication capability, NFC, and the ability to reverse charge at 5W.
The Huawei Mate 70 Air is available in a range of stylish color options, including Gold and silver brocade, White feather robe, and Obsidian Black. Pricing for the smartphone starts at CNY 4,199 ($590) for the 12GB/256GB variant, while the 12GB/512GB model is offered at CNY 4,699 ($660). The 16GB/256GB option is also priced at CNY 4,699 ($660), with the 16GB/512GB model costing CNY 5,199 ($730). The model is currently available for purchase through the official Huawei online store in China.
